Christmas - the Enduring Message
Advent to Christmas means anticipation to fulfilment, travelling to arrival, waiting to entering in. And yet, is it to be no more than a temporary escape into a world of make-believe amid the tinsel and the fairy lights?
Not for the Son of God. It was to be a getting to grips with reality in the dirt and darkness of a stable. And this is what we ought to be celebrating, not an escape but a facing up to the drear and darkness knowing that God is on our side, not for a short visit but for always.
