Harverst Festival

We all have memories of Harvest Festival - heaps of fresh fruit and vegetables piled round an alter or maybe in a school assembly room in thanksgiving for the harvest but what relevance does that have for a city church in the back streets of Brighton.

Is it still relevent to celebrate the season of fruitful mellowness in an area of back to back houses.  Well here at the Anuniciation we still celebrate Harvest Festival but you will find our altar piled high with soap, shampoo, razors, toothbrushes and toothpaste  Still celebrating the abundance of good things but with a practical purpose; all the items collected at our altar are forwarded to First Base who provide for the homeless and initial provisions for those moving into hostels or flats after living on the street.
